hey yall, got a used obrien sensation that seems to be in good shape. I have everything up and running on it except the centerboard is jammed in the up/retracted position. I tried taking out the 2 screws in the cassette to take the whole thing out, but it doesn't come out. Is there a trick to this? Do i just need to hit it with my balls? Do i even need a centerboard? First day ever tomorrow im hoping. Thanks for any help! |

First day, you will definitely want that center board (skinny as it is ) down! Unless maybe
you have consistent 22MPH winds.
Put the screws back in the cassette. Get a rubber mallet, and make sure your hitting the right direction for the center board to pivot down.
Also realize that is a very old board like from the late 80s. You can learn
on it (many of us did), but it will take some fortitude.

thanks for reply. I finally kind of realized it was just stuck and wasn't going to break and so i looped a string around the end of the centerboard and yanked real hard until it popped out. The black knobs on the centerboard that retract needed some wd40. Thanks again |

rather than WD40 try SailKote McLube or another "wet" lubricant |
