|
|
Dear Wind Friends,
As you may have heard, we have tragically lost our brother and fellow waterman Jean Rathle. In order to honor him and bid him farewell, we will hold a “Flying of Sails” ceremony at Crissy Field this Sunday February 25 at 2pm.
Please come to the beach prepared to rig your wing, sail or kite. We will gather on the sand with our rigged sails and form a semicircle (in the shape of a wing) around a lone wing and street sailing board laid in the center. Once everyone is gathered, we will sound a horn and observe 2 minutes of silence in our wing formation.
Where: Crissy Field East Beach
When: This Sunday February 25 at 2pm
Please arrive early in order to be rigged and ready to go by 2pm. We will aim to sound the horn and begin promptly at 2pm.
Kites: Please don’t fly your kites, but rig and hold at ground level similar to the wings and sails.
There will be a proper celebration of life ceremony for Jean in late March or early April, where we can gather and share stories, this ceremony is more of a symbolic goodbye from his beloved community, his beloved wind sports, and his beloved home beach.
Please forward this message as far and as wide as you can to fellow wind and water people who knew him and loved him… |
