my windsurfing skills are not nearly what half you guys have ...
and I have no fancy sayings either
but some of your sayings tend towards safety, which for me comes first
know your skills (or lack thereof)
know your location - winds, shadows, currents
know your equipment and check it - almost got hypothermia testing a D2
not really supposed to sail alone
HAVE FUN - people here always complain about gusty, my response is,"Welcome to Montreal."
and at this time of year - some of us need to be extra careful

Which brings to mind:
"Damn, I wish I had replaced that tendon".

How about...
"Fat birds don't fly" Think jumping, looping, etc.
"Moonwalking" For Bay sailors trying to get to shore in neck deep water after the wind has completely died

I used to sail with a 225-pound, extremely muscular Marine. He wanted to do aerials, but decided he was too big and settled for racing ("It's the only aggro option for guys my size.")
The best, most awe-inspiring aerialist in our crowd is bigger.
Back in my gear-testing days, a guy that big was our go-to tester for putting a years' worth of stress on boards in just a couple of sessions. I have never personally seen WSers consistently get that much air under race boards.
With a solid (non-mushy) ramp, weight doesn't significantly affect altitude. If you're one of those big guys and want to go big, don't despair. Where there's a will, there's (usually) a way, and in this case speed, skill, and balls are your friends.
The moonwalking comment hits home. Our shoreline wind shadow OFTEN leaves me bounding, in very short hops, from the windline or weedline to water I can actually stand in.
